The last few weeks have seen heavy rainfall in several parts of India. Worryingly, however, many crocodile videos have been posted on social media due to water bodies overflowing. However, in some cases, the reptile can come too close to comfort for human beings.

In a recent incident that took place in a village in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh a crocodile was found under a cot with a man sleeping on top of it, a News18 report said.

When the family members woke up in the morning, they found the crocodile under the cot, leaving them shocked. They immediately left the house and informed others in the village.

Local police and forest department officials were informed, but when they did not arrive on time the villagers decided to rescue the crocodile on their own. They secured the reptile's mouth using a rope and tried to place it inside a sack. The forest officials arrived soon and took over.

The officials took charge and released the reptile into a local river. It was assumed that the crocodile had left its natural habitat due to heavy rainfall and floods. No person was harmed in the incident.

The incident is only one of many recent ones when crocodiles have come dangerously close to human beings. Earlier this month crocodiles began to make their way into residential areas in Laksar and Khanpur regions of Uttarakhand's Haridwar district.
